The Iowa Teacher Intern Certificate program is an accelerated, online graduate certificate program geared toward career changers who hold a bachelor`s degree and want to teach in secondary education. In lieu of student teaching, candidates may fulfill this requirement as a classroom teacher with a school district. In addition to coursework, candidates may take part in field experiences and a year-long internship that may prepare them to teach in the secondary (grades 7-12) content areas of math, science, English, and social studies. After successful completion of the certificate program, candidates may be recommended to the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners to receive an Iowa Initial Teacher License. |
